I have noticed the incredible and often dangerous way drivers approach an intersection with a pedestrian in it with the signal. THey cut in front, cut dangerously close behind caring less if you are there or not. I recently wrote to the department of transportation. Here are the comments I wrote:
For pedestrians crossing at intersections with the proper walk symbol displayed is still a gamble. Drivers are not concerned with your walking in the crosswalk. They cut in front, speed through, honk and complain you are in their way. Imagine a driver in a two ton vehicle complaing to a ped. crossing at the proper time. I have almost been hit twice and I look before I leap, as it were. You should put a camera at Slosson and Gannon or Victory and Slooson. You would catch a dozen an hour. A sign for drivers directing drivers to yeild to pedestrians would be nice. If I can be of help, please feel free to contact me.
I have this happen every day, EVERYDAY! I swear I am going to key the paint of the next car that comes close enough. "Sorry pal, had my keys in my hand and you came so close, asshole!"
